KUCHING: The Regional Corridor Development Authority (Recoda) is partnering with key organisations to improve the socioeconomic well-being of rural communities.
Several MoUs were exchanged between Recoda’s Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Ismawi Ismuni, and representatives from the partnering organisations at the Nyamai Sarawak Gastronomy Festival Gala Night here, recently.
Among these collaborations, the MoUs with Carus Group, Nex Ecoventure, and Samling Group align with transformative projects such as the Collection, Processing, and Packaging Centre (CPPC) and the Integrated Highland Agriculture Station (IHAS) in Betong, Sarikei, and Long Banga.
“Through this partnership, these organisations will work together to optimise production, manage equipment, oversee supply chains, and improve operational efficiency.
“The collaboration also focuses on empowering local farmers by facilitating knowledge transfer and promoting sustainability through eco-friendly agricultural practices,” Recoda said in a statement.
In addition, Recoda has established partnerships through MoUs with Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) and Reka Jaya Plantation.
These alliances aim to support socioeconomic development and community empowerment by promoting programmes that focus on knowledge sharing, skill enhancement, resource provision, and active engagement with local communities and industries.
Meanwhile, according to Ismawi the partnerships represent a major milestone in Recoda’s current initiatives while laying the foundation for future expansions.
“By leveraging the strengths of each partner, Recoda is prepared to extend these initiatives to other regions within Sarawak, with the potential to introduce additional programmes focused on technological innovation, market expansion, and sustainable resource management.
“These agreements represent a crucial step forward in empowering our rural communities by fostering collaboration that prioritises sustainable development and knowledge sharing,” he said.
As these partnerships evolve, Recoda envisions an increasingly interconnected network of projects that will collectively contribute to the larger goal of transforming Sarawak’s interior into a thriving and resilient economic hub.
The event was attended by the Minister of Women, Family, and Community Development, Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri and Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts, Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.
