KUCHING: A record high 3,796 swabs were taken by health authorities at the Kuching City South Council’s (MBKS) Covid-19 One-Stop Centre (OSC) in Jalan Padungan here on Monday (Aug 23).
Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) advisor Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian said in total, 4,931 swabs, including those at the quarantine centre and those from active case detection (ACD), were taken on that day.
“Thank you very much for coming forward to get tested and for your understanding and patience in queueing for the free Covid-19 testing at the OSC,” he said in a Facebook post on Monday.
He shared that the government had absorbed the RM100 per head swab fee.
“The frontliners, including those doing the packing and in the lab at Sarawak General Hospital, Sarawak Heart Centre and private hospitals, had been working seven days a week, with some non-stop, just to get the results out to you as soon as possible.”
Dr Sim also urged the people not to rush to the OSC as “it is open the whole day from 9am to 5pm on Mondays to Fridays, and 9am to 1pm on Saturdays and Sundays.”
“The other health clinics (KK) in Kuching also provide PCR swabs, but need appointments to avoid large crowds and emergence of new clusters.”
