MIRI: A recreational boat with seven passengers on board ran foul of the law off Kuala Baram on Saturday.

Its local skipper and two crew members were pulled up after patrolling Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency personnel discovered they had transgressed licence conditions of the boat.

According to MMEA Miri Zone director Maritime Captain Mohd Khairol Anuar Saad, the seven passengers comprised Malaysians and a Singaporean.

The passengers were safely escorted back to shore by authorities.

Following the interception, all individuals aboard the recreational boat were escorted to Marina Bay Pier for further investigation.

MMEA urged the public to report any complaints or emergencies at sea directly to the Malaysian Emergency Response Services (MERS) at 999, or contact the Miri maritime zone Maritime Operations Center at 085-418204.
