KUCHING: The Sarawak Branch of the Malaysian Red Crescent Society has proposed that Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, become the patron of the society.
According to its deputy chairman, Stanley Liew, this was one of the recommendations they made during a courtesy visit to Wan Junaidi at the Astana Negeri on Wednesday.
He said their courtesy visit, led by their chairman, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr. George Chan Hong Nam, was also to officially invite Wan Junaidi to the Volunteer Recognition Dinner in Miri.
“We invited him to officiate and be the guest of honor for this year’s PBSM Volunteer Recognition Dinner, which will be organised by the Miri branch,” he said.
Meanwhile, Wan Junaidi also received a courtesy visit from a delegation of the Royal Malaysian Customs Department, led by its Director General, Datuk Anis Rizana Mohd Zainudin.
She said the nearly two-hour meeting discussed various matters, particularly those related to legal issues.
“This was a very valuable meeting for us to hear from him, as he has served in the federal government for a very long time, and we greatly appreciate his experience, which we can draw upon as a reference, especially in the field of law,” she told reporters after the visit.
