KUCHING: Sarawakians are encouraged to appreciate the diverse ‘harvests’ they’ve reaped over the past year as they celebrate the Gawai festival.
Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Sarawak chairman Roland Engan said that the concept of harvest extends beyond agricultural yields to include successes in education, technology, employment, media, arts, spirituality, politics, health, human rights and environmental conservation.
Roland praised the contributions of PKR Sarawak in advocating for justice and vowed to persist in defending the rights and celebrations of all communities.
“In all circumstances, we will continue to defend all communities, their rights and their celebrations,” he said in a statement.
He also urged the youth to engage with elders to understand the ‘Maju Nguan Menua,’ a customary phrase in Gawai speeches symbolising a prayer and call to action for the people of Sarawak to protect and develop their homeland.
“With this spirit, let’s unite to advance Sarawak beyond our limitations and emerge as champions of our diverse nation,” he said.
