BEKENU: The Regatta Subis Sungai Sibuti @ Bekenu 2024 will be held from November 29 to December 1 at the Grandstand, Esplanade Bekenu.
Subis District Officer and Chairperson of the event Norlila Ulis said the regatta’s opening ceremony will be officiated at by the Deputy Minister of Women, Childhood, and Community Wellbeing Development Datuk Rosey Yunus, on November 30.
Meanwhile, she said closing ceremony will be officiated at by Deputy Health Minister Datuk Lukanisman Awang Sauni, on December 1.
The regatta will feature various rowing events with 13 race categories, including 30, 25, 20, 15, and 10-rower races for men’s and open categories, 10-rower open women’s races, open men’s sambai, and 500m eight-rower events for men’s and open women’s categories.
Additionally, 500m men’s veteran and eight-rower events for participants under 30 in both men’s and women’s categories will be held, along with a 5km marathon for 30-rower teams.
This regatta will also feature an exciting line-up of boat races, including the 7.5HP and 3HP Open pump boat races, 18 and 15 Horsepower speedboats, 18 and 15 Horsepower longboats, and the Tunnel Boat 30 Horsepower (2-Piston), with the coveted title of Raja Sungai (River King), a highlight eagerly awaited by visitors, especially in Subis district.
Meanwhile, side events such as Pentas Rakyat (People’s Stage) will take place from November 29 to 30, 2024, at Arena Sibuti, Bekenu.
Various activities, sales, and performances, including those by guest singers, will add to the excitement, attracting many visitors from both within and outside the Subis district.
