KUCHING: The public are asked to register for the e-Census which is implemented by the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) online.
Sarawak Statistics Department director, Dayang Rozana Abang Hassan said the online registration was in line with the government’s efforts to curb the spread of Covid-19 in the state.
“Through this method, respondents do not have to answer the census face to face. In fact, they can answer the questionnaire provided online,” she said.
Rozana was speaking in conjunction with the implementation of the e-Census clinic and briefing at the Kuching North City Hall (DBKU) headquarters lobby on Thursday (Sep 9) morning.
According to her, cooperation from people from all walks of life is needed to ensure the success of the programme.
This is because the census, which is mandatory for the population in Malaysia, is held once every 10 years.
Sarawak Statistics Department’s Chief Assistant Director, Surhardi Omar urged those with good internet lines to register for the e-Census.
He said the system would close on Sept 30.
Any residents who want to be counted through this system are encouraged to register on the website ecencus.gov.my. as a respondent.
Also present were the Mayor of DBKU, Datuk Junaidi Reduan, and several other DBKU officials.
