KUCHING: The NASA Space Apps Challenge, a 48-hour global hackathon, is back this year to encourage more Sarawakians to try their hand at changing the world.

The event, to be held in hybrid mode on Oct 1 and 2, will be coordinated across Sarawak by the Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development (MEITD) in partnership with Realfun Learning Centre and SOL Digital.

NASA Space Apps Challenge aims to inspire local communities to come together, think intensely, and create solutions to important problems using NASA’s open-source data.

As the largest global hackathon, the NASA Space Hackathon can inspire collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking as well as foster interest on Earth and in space science exploration among the community.

According to a statement by MEITD day, the theme for this year’s hackathon is “Make Space” which celebrates the true meaning of “there’s always space for one more”.

Participants from around the world are welcomed regardless of background and experience to create, explore, learn and build together.
