SIBU: A meeting and briefing for all Assistant Registrars of Marriages (ARMS) from Sibu Division was held at Sibu Foochow Association at Jalan Salim here today.
The purpose of the meeting was to address a detail disclosure about the ARMS system which will take effect on May 1.
Four officers from National Registration Department (NRD), namely, Vanesea Henry Engga, Nurasyikin Aziz, Mohd Fazly Abdul Latip and Lawrence Tian Boon Chiat were in attendance to conduct the briefing.
Touching on the ARMS system, Iing Shii Ngie who is Assistant Registrar of Marriage for the Sibu Yin Clan Association, said in the normal process previously, the ARMS manually key- in the names of the couple and witness, and then print out the certificate.
“As of May 1 through the ARMS system, it will incorporate the details of the registered couple to be keyed in and will link directly to the NRD headquarters.
“And also, we will not be able to register for couples who are below 21 years old for marriage,” Iing stated.
