BARAM: The people in Marudi now can heave a sigh of relief with the newly opened Shell petrol station for the residents to use.
Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil said the opening of the petrol station is to replace the former petrol station.
According to Penguang, the former petrol station was often flooded and could not accommodate the increasing number of vehicles in Marudi.
“This is a historical day for the residents of Marudi because they have a petrol station that meets the national standards.
“This petrol station is also more spacious and the safety of the users is also guaranteed,” he was quoted saying in Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) report when officiating at the opening ceremony of Shell Marudi Petrol Station on Wednesday (Sept 21).
The Marudi assemblyman said that the petrol station also provides digital payment facilities by using credit or debit cards and Sarawak Pay, similar to other petrol stations in big towns and cities.
Penguang added that the opening of the gas station is one of the Sarawak government’s efforts to provide the best facilities to the residents of Marudi.
“A lot of progress has been made in this area as well despite the delays in some projects due to several issues, and not just this petrol station alone,” he explained.
He also disclosed that another gas station will be opened to provide convenience and comfort to the residents.
