SIBU: The Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR), a unit in the Premier’s Department,  contributed a total of RM1.5 million to two religious bodies in the Dudong constituency here today.

The recipients, namely the Sungai Menyan Da Wang Gong Association and the Nanga Assan New Church Committee, received RM500,000 and received RM1 million respectively.

The cheques were presented by Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) Dudong chairman Teo Boon Siew at a simple ceremony at the PDP Dudong Service Centre.

Teo, in his speech, advised the recipients to use the funds accordingly and ensure transparency, adding that they should send a report to the service centre with photos before, during, and after the project.

“Do not alter the cost by writing in your report that the items used cost hundreds or thousands while the actual cost is less than that. This shouldn’t be done,” he warned.

He said dishonesty or failure to submit reports would cause difficulties for the association’s future applications.
