KUCHING: Fifteen tahfiz schools (religious Muslim schools) under Persatuan Institusi Tahfiz (Pinta) Sarawak received RM15,000 each to help them upgrade their facilities.
Senior Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said the special grant was an allocation given by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg for the Petra Jaya parliamentary constituency.
He said among the physical upgrades that could be implemented with the grant were repairing the place where ablution is carried out, improving toilets, buying and installing new surau carpets, installing new lights in classrooms, installing CCTV system, and upgrading the public address system.
“This allocation is not allowed to be spent for the implementation of activities and other matters other than physical upgrades of the tahfiz school,” Fadillah, who is Petra Jaya MP, said during the special grant presentation ceremony for the physical upgrading of tahfiz schools in Petra Jaya at the Al-Abyad Mosque on Sunday (Mar 27).
Adding on, he said each of the tahfiz school management committee recipients is required to use the allocation within six months from the date of the cheque handover.
“All the expenses must be sent in the form of a complete report to the Petra Jaya Service Centre as a record.
“Failure to implement this directive will result in the delay of the next annual allocation for the Tahfiz School Management Committee,” he warned.
The 15 tahfiz schools that received the special grant are Masjid Darul Oloom Islamiyyah, Tafaqquh and Tahfiz Al-Makki School, Madrasah Darul Uloom Islamiyyah, Madrasah Jannatul Khairan, Maahad Tahfiz Husnul Khotimah, Madrasah Tarbiyyatul Islamiyyah Lil Banat At Thoyyibah, Al-Khairat, Madrasah Darul Uloom Al-Fatah, Madrasah Tahfiz Al-Hannah, Tahfiz Ar Razi Islamic Primary and Secondary School, Madrasatul Quran Tan Sri Marzuki Seri Abadi, Madrasah Darul Uloom Islamiyyah, Madrasah Darul Uloom Islamiyyah, Tahfidzul Quran Al-Munawwarah Centre and Ma’Had Darul Falah Islamic Studies Centre.
