KUCHING: Every police officer—from the rank-and-file to the top—have been told to perform their duties professionally as well as uphold integrity.

Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said this in his speech read by Acting Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mancha Ata during the 215th Police Day celebration at Sarawak Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK) on Friday (March 25).

“In line with the requirements of the Police Act 1967, this police institution will continue to be committed in maintaining public order and safety in the country.

“Going into the 215th anniversary of the establishment of Royal Malaysia Police Force (PDRM) today, let us all renew our oath of allegiance to King and country, as well as pledging to ensure the safety of the people and the sovereignty of the country.

“Perform your duties professionally and continue to uphold integrity for the sake of defending the supremacy of the Constitution and the rule of law.”

Acryl pointed out that by maintaining the “Polis dan Masyarakat Berpisah Tiada” theme, all police personnel were always ready to serve and stand firm to shoulder the responsibility and trust to preserve community safety and national peace.

“In strengthening the force’s service delivery system, the federal government and the Ministry of Home Affairs have approved the acquisition of assets and equipment in line with the latest technological advances in modern policing.

“For that, the force expresses its highest appreciation to the government and the ministry, who are very concerned about the needs of PDRM and allocate large funds for the welfare, comfort and wellbeing of police personnel and their families as well as police retirees.”

The celebration, conducted with strict SOP compliance, saw Mancha, who is Deputy Sarawak Police Commissioner, inspecting the guard-of-honour performed by 53 police officers from various departments.

Certificates of appreciation were also presented to six police personnel and staff. They are Insp Zulhilmi Pangis from Dalat district police headquarters (IPD), Sgt Turi Sain from Kota Samarahan IPD, Cpl Maria Gelungan from Padawan IPD, Cpl/S Mohamad Nizalmi Abdul Rahman from Dalat IPD, Naquah Nijus from Sarawak IPK special branch, and Peter Wed from Sibu IPD.
