MUKAH: Allocations for Rural Transformation Projects (RTPs) must be fully utilised to benefit the local communities, said Tellian Service Centre special officer Jay Keram.
He said project specifications must also be strictly followed to avoid wastage of funds.
He was speaking to reporters during the Tellian state constituency RTP project site handover for Tellian Ulu village, Tellian Tengah, and Penat Village recently.
Jay represented assemblyman Royston Valentine during the project handover to the contractors of the three villages to upgrade the Tellian Ulu village cemetery, Tellian Tengah village, and renovation works for the Penat village multi-purpose hall.
Royston, when contacted, hoped that all the RTP projects would be completed on time.
He said the contractor’s performance is important to ensure the successful implementation of the projects.
“We don’t want any delay which will slow down the long-term development planning in the area, hence the merit system should be implemented to monitor the performance of the contractors,” he added.
Among those present at the handing over ceremony were representatives of technical agencies from the Public Works Department (JKR) Mukah office, Mukah District Office and Dalat District Office.
