KUCHING: The International Sustainable Energy Summit (ISES) 2018 is on the right track and time as the State has recently launched the Sarawak Digital Strategy 2018-2022 to leapfrog the economy towards Digital Economy.
This was pointed out by Chief Minister, Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Johari Tun Openg whose speech text was read by his representative, Deputy Chief Minister, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas during ISES 2018 Gala Dinner at Pullman Hotel here on Tuesday night.
“For this, the Sarawak Government would like to extend her gratitude to KeTTHA and SEDA for bringing the Summit to Sarawak. It is an honour for the State to co-host this prestigious international event.
“The future of Sarawak is going to be an exciting one with Sarawakians looking forward to embrace this Digital Economy Transformation. We need energy to power the Digital Economy and there is no better energy to do so than renewable energy.
“The growth of the renewable energy sector will drive the growth of our economy. This is because an economy which has plenty of sustainable energy is an economy that has the best potential for sustainable growth in the long run.
“Therefore, your unselfishness in sharing of knowledge and ideas generously among yourselves during this two-day event is not only beneficial to yourselves but will also be of great contributions to the State as we travel together along this digital energy journey,” said Johari.
On the ceremony, the guests especially overseas guests were served a variety of local food as well as various ethnic cultural performance of Sarawak with the theme of ‘Cultural Night’.
“I hope our international guests can stay on for a few more days to enjoy Sarawak’s adventure, culture and hospitality so that you will bring home a more memorable Sarawakian experience. Do come back again in the near future and experience for yourself the Digital Economy of Sarawak,” added the Chief Minister.
