SARIKEI: Sarikei MP Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii urged local singers to showcase their exceptional singing skills and strive to achieve excellent results in any competition.

He said this during the flag presentation ceremony for the Da Lian Music and Singing Association Sarikei which was held here recently, as the association will be sending a delegation to participate in the 20th Male and Female Veteran Chinese Singing Competition in Miri on August 10.

The music association will be sending three males and female singers to compete in the event.

“I take this opportunity to thank members of the singing association and all the people for their support in the previous state and general elections.

“As the representative of Sarikei for eight years, I have collaborated with local residents to allocate funds for infrastructure development in urban and rural areas, including upgrading roads, schools, churches, temples, and other basic developments, with the aim of improving the people’s living standards,” he said.

He also announced additional funds for the association’s annual activities.

Meanwhile, the association is also planning to organise the 33rd Open Male and Female Chinese Singing Competition in Sri Aman on September 28 and 29.
