SARIKEI: Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment Assistant Minister Datuk Len Talif Salleh contributed 18 cows in conjunction with the coming Hari Raya Aidiladha.
All contributions were handed over to the Islamic celebration committee (Jawatankuasa Tetap Perayaan Islam Negeri Sarawak).
Sarikei deputy Resident, Abang Porkan Budiman, said that all the cows would be distributed to mosques, suraus, government departments and non-governmental organisations (NGOs).
“The cows are to be slaughtered before the meat is distributed to the surrounding residents, especially the less fortunate,” he said.
He said Len Talif, who is also Kuala Rajang assemblyman, contributed cows every year.
“We are grateful for the contribution of 18 cows from him this year. On behalf of the committee members, I want to extend our thanks to him for the contribution,” he said.
Meanwhile, Tanjung Manis MP Yusuf Abdul Wahab will contribute RM3,000 to every mosque, RM2,000 to every surau and RM1,500 to every government surau in his constituency.
