KUCHING: Batu Kitang assemblyman Datuk Lo Khere Chiang paid a visit to deliver daily food assistance and funds from donors to the family of the fire victim, Syafiq Mohamad Ali Hanaffiah at his residence here on Tuesday.

This visit marks the third occasion where the health progress of the victim involved in the fire incident that occurred on August 28 last year is being personally observed.

According to Lo, there has been a notable improvement in Syafiq’s health following assistance from Teddy Medical Clinic.

The clinic sent a nurse to clean his wounds every two days at home, aiming to reduce the burden on the family and alleviate the victim’s pain.

The 34-year-old Shafiq, a volunteer member of the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM), suffered 75 per cent burns on his body while trying to save fire victims.

Baitulmal and the Kuching Hope Welfare Association (Hope Place) also gave donations such as equipment, food baskets and money allowances.
