Rep distributes Mandarin oranges to Chinese schools

SERIAN: Bukit Semuja assemblyman John Ilus donated mandarin oranges to three Chinese schools here yesterday (Jan 13).

 

The distribution (of the mandarin oranges) is in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration that will be celebrated next Sunday, in addition to visiting the students and teachers.

 

According to Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) in a news report, John started his first visit to Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJKC) Pangkalan Bedup Serian as early as 9am. There are 13 teachers and 114 students at the school.

 

He then continued his visit to Serian Public Secondary School, which has 200 students and 14 teachers.

 

During the visit,Huang Ping, the principal of the school, praised John for his compassion and willingness to personally distribute the mandarin oranges.

His final destination was SJKC Chung Hua Serian, where he had the opportunity to get to know the pupils better and assess the atmosphere and any potential problems.

John expressed his gratitude for the schools’ encouragement and acceptance of him at the occasion.

He also told them that the visit’s purpose was to foster a sense of community and promote the importance of unity within the community.

 

Also present were Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Bukit Semuja branch Youth chief Albert Andrew, Serian Chinese Chambers of Commerce Chairman Lai Swee Chong, Temenggung Gee Ah Chok and Serian Chinese kapitans.
