KAPIT: Government grants totalling RM123,500 were presented to three Village Security and Development Committees (JKKK) and a Parent-Teacher Association of SK Kampung Baru here recently.
Kapit MP Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi who is an adviser in the Chief Minister’s Department (Rural Transformation Project) presented the grants to representatives of the NGOs during a ‘Leaders-meet-the-people session’ held at Dewan Masyarakat Melayu Kampung Bleteh.
The recipients were JKKK Kampung Baru which received RM32,000, JKKK Kampung Muhibbah Bletih (RM41,000), JKKK Kampung Pembesaran Baru Phase II (RM45,500) and SK Kampung Baru PTA which received RM5,000.
Speaking at the function, Nanta urged the villagers to work together to develop their respective village.
He also congratulated the newly appointed community leaders namely ketua Kampung Ahmad Jaraee who is the chairman of JKKK Kampung Baru Kapit, ketua Kampung Razali Abdullah (chairman of JKKK Kampung Muhibbah Bletih), ketua Kampung Abang Mohamad (chairman of JKKK Kampung Pembesaran Baru Phase II) and penghulu Berawi.
Nanta urged them to continue to support the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.
“The chief minister is humble and fair to all races and hardworking. We need his leadership to defend Sarawak’s rights. I urged all, regardless of race or religion to unite and give GPS a strong mandate in the coming state election,” he said.
At the function, he also announced a RM30,000 grant for Masjid Jabal An-Nur and RM15,000 each for Surau Kampung Baru and Kampung Muhibbah.
Also present at the function were Bukit Goram assemblyman Jefferson Jamit Unyat, Kapit District Officer Cerisologo Sabut and local community leaders.
