TATAU: A total of RM450,100 in Minor Rural Project (MRP) funds were given out to 12 longhouses in Kakus constituency for the ‘Program Penambahbaikan Rumah Miskin Sarawak’ (PPRMS) yesterday.
Presenting the fund at Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) Office in Kakus constituency was its assemblyman Datuk John Sikie Tayai.
Sikie stated, “This MRP project (allocation) is for the first phase of 2019, in the form of building materials such as zinc roofs, bricks and cement.
“The project is from the state GPS government,” he said at the event.
He mentioned that the fund for the MRP projects is distributed in phases and priority would be given to longhouses which are in need of immediate repair or those under construction.
“The Kakus constituency is a large area with over 400 longhouses and MRP assistance will be continuously carried out in stages.
“The second phase recipients for 2019 has been listed and they will also receive similar assistance later this year,” he said.
He hoped the villagers would be able to carry out repair works to their longhouse or village smoothly.
He added the assistance proved that the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg is a government that keeps its promises to protect the wellbeing of the people.
