KOTA SAMARAHAN: Muara Tuang assemblyman, Datuk Idris Buang on Sunday (Sept 13) officiated at a community service for single mothers at Meranek village here.
The programme called ‘Khidmat Masyarakat Ibu Gemilang (i-Gems)’ was organised by Dewan Ekonomi Melayu Sarawak (Dekoms).
Single mothers and local residents participating in the programme will be involved in 10 main activities to gain experience and knowledge.
At the event, certificates of appreciation were presented to those who helped Dekoms to make the programme a success.
Ten senior citizens also received basic food and cash assistance worth RM200 each while six orphans from Meranek Secondary School received donations in the form of school aid and cash.
After officiating at the programme, Idris and the other dignitaries socialised with the i-Gems participants.
Also present were the chairman of Kota Samarahan Municipal Council, Datuk Peter Minos, Dekoms president Bujang Boji Sitam and Penghulu Asi Arbi.
