SIMANGGANG: A total of RM266,000 in Minor Rural Project (MRP) funds was distributed to 49 organisations and clubs today (Aug 2).

Simanggang assemblyman Datuk Francis Harden Hollis handed over the cheques at the Simanggang Service Centre Office.

“This allocation is a Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government fund channelled to its representatives as financial assistance for associations to carry out activities that benefit the members and the involved residents,” he said in a statement.

Harden also urged recipients to be transparent by informing their members of the amount receive.“Financial management within an organisation is very sensitive, but with transparent management following the guidelines, negative perceptions of members and residents can be avoided and misunderstandings within an organisation and club can be minimised,” he added.

He hoped that the recipients would appreciate the GPS government’s support and use the funds wisely for the benefit of the community.

Meanwhile, Harden, who is also SUPP Simanggang chairman, received 15 membership application forms from the party’s youth wing.
