DALAT: Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family, and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah hopes that Phase Two of the RM4.1million riverfront project here would be completed before July this year.

She said in July, the Sago Carnival and Dalat Regatta will be held here and the riverfront, when completed, would definitely provide a more spacious venue for the events.

“The project was approved by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg when he was the minister in charge of tourism, and was implemented in June 2018,” she said when visiting and inspecting the progress of the project here on Friday.

According to the Dalat assemblywoman, the project was aimed at beautifying the riverfront area by building retaining walls and a three-storey watch tower with a roof resembling a sago palm.

She added that the riverfront has specially designed tiles, while the panel was inscribed with histories of the riverfront, Dalat Regatta and so on.

Fatimah said every unique structure built is synonym with Dalat district and also reflect the symbolic nature of the district.

She added that the waterfront could also be used for recreational activities with families, senior citizen activity centre (Pawe) weekly activities and also for traders to operate.
