BELAGA: Belaga assembyman Datuk Liwan Lagang conducted a visit to observe the conditions of a road damaged by a landslide on Jalan Jiwa Murni Belaga Nanga Merit here recently.

The landslide occurred due to continuous rain throughout Thursday night.

During the inspection, Liwan identified two landslide locations – one between the junction to Rumah Sekapan Piit and Rumah Sekapan Panjang, and another at the junction to Long Dungan with the Dungan River Bridge.

Consequently, he requested and directed the contractors to promptly commence road improvement works to prevent the landslide from worsening, considering the current frequent rainy weather.

Liwan also instructed the District Office to contact the oil palm plantation owners in the affected area and assess all oil palm trees that might be affected by the road repair works.

In light of this, Liwan reminded and advised the public to exercise caution when using the affected road due to its hazardous condition while waiting for the contractors to address the damage.
