KUCHING: Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau recently launched Programme Pemerkasaan Wanita Telang Usan” organised by Pergerakan Wanita PBB Telang Usan at Long Lunyim, Sg Pelutan, about four and a half hour by 4×4 vehicle from Miri.
According to the head of the movement Margaret Nawan, the objective of the programme is to inform the rakyat on the roles of the government and its agencies in helping rural women to enhance their living skills.
Dennis praised the PBB Telang Usan women movement for organsing many programmes to reach out to the women in the rural longhouses.
At the function, Dennis approved request by headman Sakai Ding for fire extinguishers for the longhouse, RM3, 000.00 for Saberkas Telang Usan to assist in organising a youth sport and games day for youths from 10 longhouses in the area at Long Lunyim in August 2017.
He promised to look into the request from the women committee for government to build a women activity centre in the longhouse.
Also present at the event were a political secretary to the chief minister Charles Balan Seling, the organising chairperson Florence Do, headmen and heads of various government agencies.
