SARIKEI: Urban Development and Natural Resources Assistant Minister Datuk Len Talif Salleh paid a visit to the SK Muara Payang vaccination centre (PPV) last Saturday (June 19).

Information Department Sarawak (JaPen) said that the main purpose of the visit was to monitor the implementation of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK) which was held for two days from June 19-20.

A spokesperson for the SK Muara Payang PPV said a target of 800 recipients, consisting residents in the Muara Payang area, was set to receive their vaccine injection during the two days.

“On Saturday (June 19), residents from Muara Payang Sarikei were given their vaccination while on today, residents from Muara Payang Samarin received theirs,” the spokesperson said in a statement on Sunday.

The spokesperson said that 173 recipients were vaccinated on Saturday, although the target was set at 336 recipients.

“In order to achieve our target of 800 recipients, all residents who are 18 years old and above will be invited to go to the PPV even though they have yet to receive their vaccination appointment date through the MySejahtera application or are not included in the list of recipients for this PPV.

“There are 42 officers on duty including officers from government agencies in Sarikei district such as staff from the hospital and Health Department, District Office, Resident Office, Malaysian Royal Police (PDRM), Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), Civil Defense Department (JPAM), District Council and Public’s Works Department (JKR) to assist in ensuring that the programme goes smoothly,” the spokesperson added.

The spokesperson also noted that the overall operations of the mobile PPV went smoothly last Saturday.

Also present during the visit was Tanjung Manis MP Yusuf Abdul Wahab, chairman of PICK Sarikei division Felicia Tan, director of PICK Sarikei district Christopher Ranggau Unting and community leader representative Penghulu Bidai.
