KUCHING: Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap Yau Sin says the federal government’s move on administrative simplification is timely as it will improve the delivery system of projects.
It was announced that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had allowed Sarawak and Sabah to decide on the implementation of any infrastructure project under RM50mil.
“It will also lead to greater efficiency and facilitate faster development progress of Sarawak leading to more jobs and income generated for the people,” Yap told New Sarawak Tribune.
“This is because infrastructure development is the driving force for socioeconomic growth under Sarawak’s Post Covid-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS2030) which aims to integrate urban rural divide through robust infrastructure development,” he added.
Earlier, Anwar noted that there were some delays in the implementation of a few projects in both states, despite a large amount of funds being allocated, due to bureaucracy.
“We have now decided that the implementation of infrastructure projects under RM50mil be handed over to Sarawak and Sabah, to be carried out in accordance with the proper financial regulation.
“Decisions can be made in Kuching or Kota Kinabalu without any sort of delay (like in past years).”
