KUCHING: Tasik Biru assemblyman Datuk Harry Henry Jinep welcomes the allocation of RM1.2 billion to repair dilapidated clinics and schools under the Budget 2023.
He hoped that the Bau Hospital and dilapidated schools in his constituency would benefit from the allocation.
“I welcome this allocation as the dilapidated schools in my constituency are often affected by flood. Thus, I hope that priorities will be given to such schools,” he told New Sarawak Tribune.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim tabled the Malaysia MADANI Budget 2023 yesterday (Feb 24), the first budget to be tabled by the unity government led by him.
The Supply Bill 2023 was tabled before Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Johari Abdul and it will be debated at the policy stage for six days from Monday (Feb 27) before the ministerial reply session on March 8 and 9.
In the revised Budget 2023, Sarawak has been allocated a RM5.6 billion development fund while Sabah received RM6.5 billion.
Anwar assured that Sabah and Sarawak would continue to greatly benefit from the country’s development allocation.
“Among the plans are developing towns bordering Kalimantan, Indonesia such as Kalabakan in Sabah and Ba’Kelalan in Sarawak with funding of RM1 billion in line with Indonesia’s new capital shift to Kalimantan.
“Additionally, more than RM2.5 billion has been allocated to implement projects involving public infrastructure which will mostly benefit Sabah and Sarawak. This involves road projects, streetlights as well as water and electricity supply,” he said.
