BAU: Serembu assemblyman Miro Simuh will embark on a visit to Taiwan to explore agricultural practices and exchange knowledge with the island nation’s indigenous communities.

Miro noted the similarities between the Bidayuh community in Bau and Taiwan’s indigenous culture, particularly in terms of hospitality and traditional foods.

“Diplomatic relations and cultural exchanges like this are crucial for maintaining a strong relationship between our nations,” he said at the the Taiwan Indigenous-Gumbang Culture Exchange Entourage Reception at Kampung Gumbang Community Hall today (Sept 14).

“Harmony and unity, regardless of background, religion, or culture, are essential values that we must uphold. Visits like this provide valuable opportunities for us to learn from each other’s traditions and heritage.”

A 40-member delegation from Taiwan, led by Director of the Hualien Indigenous Peoples Department Toko Sayion, attended the event.

Toko expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and unique cultural experiences they encountered during their visit to Sarawak.
