Rep urges Muslims to make Quran their life guide

MUKAH: Balingian assemblyman Abdul Yakub Arbi advises Muslims to make a diligent effort in studying, understanding and internalising the contents of the Quran.

“Muslims need to make the Quran a culture and reference in life, thereby educating family members and children to be guided by the principles of this holy book.

“For children, it is good to send them for Quranic study classes, especially Quranic and Fardhu Ain Study Classes (KAFA).

“Insha-Allah, this way, they will become a generation educated with the Quran and become a community blessed by Allah SWT in this world and the hereafter,” he said when speaking at the Mukah District Quran Recitation Competition 2024, at the Setia Raja Mosque here, yesterday.

He explained it is the foundation and guide to advance society to become a quality community and not deviate from the teachings of Allah SWT.

In connection with this, he called on all communities to elevate and maintain peace, security, and stability in Sarawak.

Islamic Religious officer of the Mukah Division and chairman of the Event Management Committee, Mohammad Adib Saini reminded all Muslims to interpret and understand the teachings in the holy book, Quran so that it can be a guide in life.

“This event is also proof of the Sarawak government’s efforts to instill understanding of the Quran so that it is a basis and reference for all of us.

“It is hoped this efforts will not stop at this point, and we strive to provide exposure at the village level, especially in studying taranum, which is fading among the younger generation,” he added.

The event witnessed a total of 10 participants comprising four men and six women took part in the competition.

For the Qari, the champion went to Abang Ahmad Abang Mantali, the runner-up was Shahrizal Musa, while Rosli Ali was took the third place.

Meanwhile, for the Qariah, the champion was won by Syarifah Nur Ruqayyah Syed Zainon, the runner-up went to Meryam Bol, while Rajemah Jair got the third place.

The both the Qari and Qariah categories, the champions each took home RM700 in cash, meanwhile the runner-up get RM500 each, and third place received RM300 each.

All winners also took home trophies, participation certificates, contributions in kinds  from the Sarawak Baitulmal Fund (TBS), Bank Rakyat, and the Mukah Parliamentary Service Center.
