MUKAH: Datuk John Sikie Tayai is urging the Ministry of Health (MoH), Public Works Department (JKR) and the Health Department to expedite the full operations of the Simpang Bukut Health Clinic.

The Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Native Laws and Customs) said locals were looking forward to this and the clinic needed to operate immediately.

“This clinic is currently operating temporarily as a mobile vaccination centre (PPV),” he said during a visit there.

“Although the Simpang Bukut Health Clinic was completed last year, it is still not operating (fully).

“I appeal to MoH, JKR and Health Department to expedite its full operations.”

Sikie, who is also the Kakus assemblyman, the clinic could serve more than 70 longhouses in the surrounding areas of Bawan, Pengkalan Lobang, Bukut, Melanjan, Sungai Duan, Bukit Dinding, and Ulu Sikat as well as four oil palm plantations and several schools.

“When it’s fully operational, residents from this area no longer need to travel to Mukah to be vaccinated.”
