KUCHING: Tupong assemblyman Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman is disappointed with Sarawakians who like to post or share contents that could incite disharmony among the multiracial society in the state.

He said this when asked to comment on the viralled posting of a premises in Matang area that had a signboard with the word “Al-Baghdadi” on it. A netizen had claimed the word was related to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), whose most wanted leader was Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi.

“If you google the word “Al-Baghdadi”, there are so many different meanings and one of it is the learning of Al Quran using the Al-Baghdadi technique,” he told New Sarawak Tribune today.

He said there were Al-Baghdadi learning centres in Kuching   famous for teaching its students to learn and read the Al-Quran in a fast way.

“It’s really sad to see this. It shows how ignorant and irresponsible some people can be.

“What is Sarawak  becoming? We should be better than this,” lamented Fazzrudin.

On the said centre in Matang, the assemblyman believed it was an education centre teaching Al-Quran.

“For now, we should be very careful when posting such contents in the social media.

“Imagine what will happen to the people and the children in the centre if some insane persons believe what is posted, and take matters into their hands?” he asked.

“If members of the public see anything suspicious, they should immediately report it to the police and necessary investigation will be carried out,” added Fazzrudin.

“Such posting will only create panic among the public, and also disharmony especially if it involves religion.”

He urged the public to think twice and to investigate first before believing  such postings.

Meanwhile, the netizen who shared the content on the social media was believed to have deleted the post today.

And checks on the Internet show there is a blog about a centre called “Al-Badhdadi Learning Centre Matang Jaya.”
