KUCHING: A man with a history of criminal records has been sentenced to 10 months in prison by the Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday (June 27).
Sylverster Stallone Itie, 23, from Lingga, pleaded guilty to stealing a 42-inch television and three plastic bags of electrical wires from a house in Jalan Stampin Tengah on June 16.
The charge against Sylverster, under Section 380 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 34 of the same code, accused him of stealing the items from a male victim’s house at around 5.10am on June 16.
The offence carries a maximum penalty of 10 years’ imprisonment and a possible fine.
The facts of the case revealed that a police patrol team apprehended Sylverster as he was attempting to flee the house’s premises with the stolen items.
The estimated loss suffered by the victim was valued at around RM4,000.
Further investigation uncovered that Sylverster had previous criminal records involving cases of housebreaking and drug abuse.
Inspector Merylene Lindan Andrew Mang handled the prosecution while the accused did not have legal representation during the proceedings.
