MUKAH: The two people’s representatives in the Mukah parliamentary constituency welcomed the candidacy of Dato Hanifah Hajar Taib and believed she could deliver.
According to Tellian State Assemblyman, Yussibnosh Balo it was high time for a young blood to represent the progressive Mukah constituency.
“I give my full support to the choice of the candidate by our Chief Minister and Prime Minister. It is timely for a young blood to represent Mukah especially in attaining our aspiration of turning Mukah Town into a “Smart City” under Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE),” he said.
Considering the candidate as a local especially her grandparents, he believed Hanifah would win the election like the previous Barisan Nasional (BN) Candidate.
“I’m very sure that she can win in this election and can bring our voice to the Parliament for the good and development of the constituency she represents. I know that her grandparents were from Mukah,” he said.
Meanwhile, Balingian State Assemblyman, Abdul Yakub Haji Arbi pointed out that the grassroots should support the candidate chosen and decided by the party’s leadership.
“The selection of the candidate was done thoroughly and with great care to ensure a win for BN in this 14th General Election. Hence, it has always been the priority of a political party by not only coming up with a winnable candidate but also a capable one to bring and struggle for the agenda and development of Sarawak in general,” he said.
Yakub also believed that all the candidates named by the Chief Minister would be able to fight for the return of the state rights which had been eroded for a long period of time.
“Our candidates for the state this time around are able to do so especially for their own capability and also in term of influence. Hanifah is a suitable candidate to continue with that agenda because she had proven her credibility in leading several non governmental bodies at the state and national level,” he added.
He also considered Hanifah good relationship with the incumbent Member of Parliament for Mukah Tan Sri Dr Muhammad Leo Toyad and the three state assemblypersons from the area could ensure the development agenda of Mukah to continue and always given priority.
