MIRI: A python and a monitor lizard gave an unwanted surprise to two women at separate locations in the city here.
Miri Civil Defence Force (APM) officer Lt (PA) Azuan Kamin said the first case happened at Jalan Tudan Kuala Baram on Yesterday (Oct 12).
After receiving a distress call around 9.30pm, a team was sent to the location to catch the 0.5m-long python.
“Prior to the discovery of the reptile, the 23-year-old complainant was packing her things in her car.
“She then saw something moving under the passenger seat and much to her shock, it was a python,” Lt Azuan said.
The team managed to catch it before releasing the snake into the wild.
Meanwhile, Miri APM received another distress call around 8am the next day (Oct 13) – this time regarding a monitor lizard.
“At the 39-year-old complainant’s house in Piasau, they were told that she heard noises in the toilet.
“She went to check and was surprised to find a 0.5m-long monitor lizard in the toilet,” said Lt Azuan.
The reptile was captured and also released into the wild.
