MIRI: A coordinated rescue operation took place early this morning at Kampung Batu 1 Fish Market in Kuala Baram, where emergency responders prevented a suicide attempt by a 20-year-old woman.

The incident unfolded when the Lutong fire station, assisted by police, received a distress call at 7.10 am.

The team arrived quickly and spent an hour negotiating with the young woman, who was visibly distressed.

After a delicate intervention, she was persuaded to step back and safely handed over to the care of her colleagues. The operation involved contributions from various parties, including the victim’s workplace manager.

The situation, believed to be triggered by familial issues, was initially brought to the authorities’ attention by concerned locals who noticed the woman at the market from early in the morning.
