SARIKEI: A suspected gas leak in a house along Jalan Syarif Masahor today (Oct 3) prompted swift action from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), though the source of the mystery smell remains unsolved.

Residents have reported an overpowering odour at Drahman Keria, causing dizziness and concern.

Bomba said they were alerted of the incident at 3.39pm, and promptly deployed firefighters from the Sarikei station to the scene to investigate.

The team later ventilated the house by opening the windows, while two members clad in full personal protection equipment (PPE) searched for the source of the smell.

However, after 25 minutes of operation, they were unable to trace any gas leak in the surrounding area.

Once the situation was deemed safe, the team ended the operation at 4.20pm.

The source of the strange smell, however, remains a mystery to the residents.
