KANOWIT: Quick actions by Billy Nanga Kabah residents saved their 17-door longhouse from being razed to the ground last Friday.
Fire brigade chief Arrahman Chik said the station received a distress call on a fire incident around 6.30pm. His men were then dispatched to the scene, approximately 67km from the station.
Upon arriving at the scene, the team learned that the fire was extinguished by eight residents.
Further inspection carried out by the firemen confirmed that the damages were limited only to the repository of the longhouse.
The cause of the fire and losses incurred is yet to be ascertained with zero casualties.
