SARIKEI: The people of Sarikei are grateful to Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg for approving major projects here over the last two years, said Repok assemblyman Datuk Sri Huang Tiong Sii.

He said the projects, particularly Sarikei -Tanjung Manis Road, the Agro Park Project and the state administrative complex, reflected the aspirations and dreams of the Sarikei people.

These projects would empower and encourage the development of agro-industry in Sarikei, he added.

“We are fortunate to have a visionary leader with a clear direction in driving Sarawak’s development towards a high-income and prosperous state by 2030,” he said during a blood donation programme here yesterday.

A total of 31 people donated blood during the programme, organised by Rela Sarikei and community service centre of Nam Kiew area.

“Donating blood reminds us that we are all the same. Cultural diversity and social differences are not a factor when it comes to emergencies, especially those involving medical treatment.
