SERIAN: Unable to get repairs for an access road to their residential area as it is on a private land, residents of Taman Pasir here, led by Pasir Housing Community president Chai Nyuk Chong, took it upon themselves to fix it.

Taman Pasir, which consists of 400 houses, has only one entrance/exit.

The completion of the Serian Interchange 1 flyover had cut off the right turn for drivers going to Serian Hospital or Kuching.

A gravel road was recently constructed behind Unaco supermarket and it has brought relief and convenience to Taman Pasir folk by cutting down travel distance by three kilometres to Kuching.

However, potholes and sharp rocks on the gravel road posed a threat to motorists and motorcyclists.

Chai thanked all those who came forward to help and hoped the relevant authorities will tar-seal the road immediately.
