MIRI: Heavy downpour here since Wednesday has inundated several parts of the resort city in flood water.
According to Miri Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) chief Supt Law Poh Kiong, the flood has affected low-lying and flood-prone areas such as Taman Tunku, Pujut Roundabout, Lutong , Kampung Senadin Jaya and Tanjong Lobang.
Tanjong Lobang secondary school and SMK St Joseph Miri were also inundated.
“Despite the situation, most of the affected roads are still passable and the situation is under control,” Law said.
Meanwhile, in Marudi, five longhouses were reportedly flooded. The affected longhouses are Rumah Gau Stapang D; Rumah Jimbau Sungai Gudang; Rumah Adam Sungai Nawang; Rumah Entika Sungai Poyut and Rumah Keir Sungai Selejau.
There have been no reports of casualties or flood evacuees so far.
