BETONG: The loan restructuring campaign of the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) with rates as low as RM300 should be taken advantage of by all borrowers who still have repayment arrears.
According to one of the lecturers Emilyn Nojen, the campaign is the best initiative from the government for PTPTN borrowers.
According to her, this strategy can help borrowers to discipline themselves in financial management, and even ensure borrowers have a clean record.
“My hope is that every borrower is aware of their responsibility in paying their debts instead of becoming a ‘sore’ that is difficult to cure if not dealt with properly.
“So, seize the opportunity throughout the two-month campaign from June 1 to July 31 for loan restructuring,” she told Suara Sarawak, yesterday.
Meanwhile, civil servant Florence Bulan Johnny described the campaign as good to encourage repayment, especially for those who have just joined the workforce or have the burden of a high financial commitment.
“The restructuring will ensure that loans are paid according to the stipulated period and remove names from the blacklist affecting CCRIS and CTOS.
“Hopefully the borrowers fulfill their obligation to repay the loan to ensure the survival of PTPTN in helping those who need funds to continue their studies at a higher level,” she said.
Private sector employee Dayang Nadihah Abang Aminudin said it is very appropriate for anyone who has not yet paid the arrears.
“We understand that not all PTPTN borrowers are able to make repayments according to the amount fixed,” she added.
Strictly speaking, PTPTN should act decisively as soon as a borrower starts working.
“Arrange a rejection payment contract with the borrower according to the appropriate rate or schedule,” she said.
For university student Norshafika Abdullah, this PTPTN campaign gives borrowers the opportunity to settle arrears in a situation that is not too urgent.
“Due to the poor economic conditions, the amount of PTPTN payments should be in accordance with the current circulation and according to the borrower’s ability.
“This is so that they don’t feel burdened and end up paying all the loans even in a relatively long period of time,” she said.
The loan structuring campaign with rates as low as RM300 will last for two months from June 1 to July 31.
It is open to all borrowers who have arrears either for conventional or ujrah loans.
Borrowers need to make arrears repayments of as little as RM300 for loan restructuring and are required to make salary deductions or direct debits as repayment methods to ensure borrowers can make consistent and orderly repayments.
