SARIKEI: 53 former students of Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Abang Haji Matahir here recently attended a reunion gathering after leaving the school for more than 30 years.
The former students, born in 1973 until 1978, were happy to meet their former classmates and schoolmates at the event held at the school hall.
Programme Advisor, Siti Hajar Abdul Gani said: “Actually, the organisers did not expect the event to attract many participants but five former teachers also turned up.”
Also present were Deputy Director of Sarawak Forest Department, Hamden Mohammad, Senior Engineer of Oil and Gas Companies in Doha, Qatar, Abu Bakar Hassan and the Programme Chairman, Dayang Fatimah Abang Hashim.
Among the exciting activities held were a karaoke session which featured songs in the 70s, presentation of souvenirs to five former teachers and contributions in the form of cash, plaques and wall fans to the Supplementary Food Plan room (RMT).
The revellers also cut a cake made from yellow glutinous rice as a sign of gratitude that they could reunite with old friends and to honour all those whose birthdays fell in September.
