SIBU: Bishop of Anglican Churches of Sarawak and Brunei Darussalam, the Right Reverend Danald Jute made a two-day working visit here recently. Danald, accompanied by the priest in charge of St John Anglican Church, Reverend Ramdan Mejem and Sub Deacon, Obed George, visited the site of the Anglican church in Sibu Jaya.
He later graced the confirmation of 59 new Anglicans at St John Church at Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg here. On Saturday night, the Anglicans attended a welcoming dinner for the Bishop in conjunction with his first visit to Sibu after his appointment in August.
The welcoming dinner, held together with the charity dinner of St John Church at a hotel here, was attended by more than 500 faithfuls. Ar chde a c on o f Ang l i c a n churches for Sarawak Northern Region, Venerable Canon Jamal Senada was also present. At the function, a corporate figure and an Anglican, Datuk William Tiu contributed more than RM10,000 worth of lubricant oil to St John Church.
