KUCHING: Batu Lintang assemblyman See Chee How has called for a review of the July 22 decision to discontinue Sarawak Special Committee on Citizenship (SSCC).
“I agree with Minister of Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah (not to politicise SSCC), she has done a very good job to help those who are stateless through the committee,” See said after attending the Sarawak Society for the Deaf (SSD) annual Charity Food Fair at the Association of Churches in Sarawak (ACS) premises in Jalan Stampin here yesterday.
See said SSCC should be revisited in order to better help citizenship applicants from among the ‘stateless’ and undocumented persons in Sarawak.
“The issue must not be politicised,” he reiterated, adding that the committee could be expanded by incorporating more people from various parties in order to facilitate and expedite the citizenship applications.
