KUALA LUMPUR: RHB Banking Group (RHB) and Shell Malaysia are collaborating with Visa to launch the co-branded RHB Shell Visa Credit Card/-i, providing customers with the convenience, flexibility and rewards for online and offline purchases via a single credit card.

In a joint statement today, the collaborators said this was a result of RHB and Shell Malaysia’s long-term strategic partnership that would bring exciting credit card propositions to consumers in Malaysia.

“We expect to further accelerate our credit card acquisition through this long-term partnership with well-known market leaders, Shell and Visa, with a target of 100,000 new applications within the next 12 months,” said RHB group managing director Datuk Khairussaleh Ramli.

He said the new card caters to the evolving needs of consumers, while at the same time simplifying customer experience by consolidating rewards for fuel and non-fuel spending under a single credit card.

Besides cashback on fuel purchases, the credit card also provided cardholders with more returns and rewards on online and physical purchases of daily essentials, he said.

Meanwhile, Visa country manager for Malaysia Ng Kong Boon said Malaysia saw strong contactless payment growth.

“Today, more than one in two Visa face-to-face transactions in the country are contactless payments.

“This credit card would enable Malaysians to easily tap and pay for their purchases conveniently and securely,” he said.

According to the statement, cardholders would be able to enjoy extra savings of up to RM100 per month, with five per cent cash rebates for online transactions, including RM50 for petrol transactions and RM50 for e-wallet top-ups, utility bill payments, groceries and other daily expenses.

It said customers would also benefit from cash rebates of up to 12 per cent on petrol transactions at all Shell stations nationwide.

As part of the launch promotion, new RHB Shell Visa Credit Card/-i holders would receive up to 30 per cent cashback on petrol purchases until July 2021, and would be eligible for an annual fee waiver for the first year.
