By Maya Green
It’s morning, the sunshine is gone
A storm is brewing on the outside
And the western sea has darkened
It’s like — an angry face
I am all cooped up, inside
Here in the middle of the storm
My mind is beginning to dull
For it’s hard to think, for inside is a storm
The storm that is brewing, on the inside
It’s picking up a sure momentum
So of the storm, I need to ride this
It’s the bigger storm, this one on the inside
The storm outside will soon pass
For every storm will run out of steam
As like the dark night is always followed
By the joys of the Light of Morning
For today, the morning is overtaken
By the storm brewing on the outside
‘Tis getting the upper hand
But only for a moment, for it too will pass
Yes, there is a time for everything
For now, riding this internal storm, I must
I have to look forward to the calm seas
Even as the storm here is raging strong
Hope is the lifeline, for me and you
Faith the life vest, that will ensure
We can ride this storm, that’s for sure
Even — if we’re right, in the eye of it
(Allegorical journey of the soul though life here on earth)
