BINTULU: A local man died on the spot in a fatal collision along Mile 2, Jalan Sultan Iskandar here, yesterday (June 14).

Bintulu police chief Supt Batholomew Umpit said the accident involving the victim’s motorcycle and a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), happened around 10 am.

The accident occurred when the 39-year-old victim crashed into the MPV driven by a 65-year-old woman, that was turning into Jalan Belimbing.

“The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics due to severe head and body injuries. His body was taken to Bintulu Hospital for a post-mortem,” Batholomew said.

Meanwhile, the MPV driver escaped unharmed in the collision.

Batholomew said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

He appealed to those who witnessed the accident to contact the investigating officer Insp Lydia Allan at 010-9007791 or the Bintulu district police headquarters (IPD) operations room at 086-318304.
