KUCHING: Having the right policies coupled with capable leaders for Sarawak are important factors to become a developed state with high income and quality living.
“These leaders won’t be leaders as such we need to support and vote for them to lead,” said Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Stakan branch chairman Datuk Sim Kiang Chiok.
He said this in response to Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg’s statement on Monday (Dec 14) that only with the right policies and huge investments could urban areas be developed to what they are today.
He explained that the country experienced leadership under Pakatan Harapan (PH) and they had shown themselves to be incapable as they could only helm the nation for 22 months.
“They (PH) could not hold themselves together as they put themselves first rather than the people.
“They have instead created more problems of uncertainty, creating more poverty than prosperity.”
Sim cited rating agency Fitch, which downgraded Malaysia’s credit rating, and one of the reasons was due to political uncertainty and weak federal government.
“However, the Sarawak government’s ratings are untouched as we have political stability, which is good for investment and business sustainability.”
He added the state under the leadership of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) was stable and united and had created the right approach to progress forward.
“All Sarawak development policies are for all races as confirmed by Abang Johari. Thus, any disparity will bring discontent and unhappiness, which will affect the stability of the government, which will affect the implementation of any good policies.”
Sim said he agreed with Abang Johari and the latter had rightly pointed out having the right policies would bring progress to Sarawak.
“Therefore, we must be smart in voting the person with a proven record of implementing good policies for all of us to progress and for the future generations to come.”
